From Kenya to Arcadia
I grew up in Kenya, part of a close-knit African family that valued education, culture, and working with our hands. We grew our own food, made things from scratch, and connected with nature daily. Those values shaped who I am — someone deeply rooted in the earth and in community.
After graduating as an educator, I eventually relocated to Australia to be with my wonderful Welsh husband. We built a successful business in Sydney — until the pandemic turned things upside down. So we did something wild and freeing: bought a 4WD Toyota Coaster bus and began travelling around Australia.
Along the way, I felt the energy of Port Macquarie calling me. It reminded me of home — open land, birdsong, a slower rhythm. So we sold our Sydney place and bought our little acreage here, where nature is once again my playground.
My background brings the vision and creativity. My husband? He builds it all, fixes everything, and makes the magic real. Together, we created Arcadia — a space to grow, learn, and connect.
Our travels helped us see what people are craving: community, simplicity, connection. That’s why we built Arcadia. We want to share the joy of earthy living, camping under the stars, brewing kombucha, preserving food, and learning practical skills.
I still proudly work part-time at our local community college as a Youth and Community Programs Officer. Being connected to people is part of who I am — whether I’m teaching in a classroom or digging in the garden barefoot.
